A dog walking off lead on an empty Newcastle path in early morning light

Start quiet. Go anywhere.

Off the lead. On purpose.

Picture the walk that isn't a mission. No scanning every path for other dogs, no crossing the road, no arm nearly wrenched out of its socket. That's what we're building towards — properly off the lead, and you both actually enjoying it.

What you get

Where most people start

You've started planning your day around the dog

Nobody here thinks you've failed. Most owners arrive having already tried a lot, on their own, for a long time.

Freedom isn't the reward for good behaviour. It's the point of it.

Who you'd be working with

Adam Jaques

I work with dogs who bark, lunge or freeze on lead, and the owners who've stopped enjoying walks because of it. Reactivity is the whole practice — everything else exists to get those dogs off the lead again, properly free to just be a dog.

Training is one-to-one, on the routes you actually use, at times that fit around your week. I'm one person, so I answer my own messages — usually the same day.

Clarity is fair. Confusion is what's unkind.

Is this you?

Built for reactive dogs — not basic manners

This programme is for dogs who bark, lunge, freeze or panic around triggers on the lead, and for owners who are done managing it and want it actually resolved.

If your dog is generally sound but just needs some polish — recall, loose lead, the basics — a group class will get you there faster and cheaper than this will. If walks have become something you brace for, this is built for exactly that.

How it works

Call first, then the work

Nobody signs up to anything before I've seen the dog and told you honestly what I think.

Initial call and assessment

A call about your dog, then an honest look at them in person. If I'm not the right person for this, I'll say so on the call.

Off Peak Dog Club

Where graduates carry on: group walks with handlers who get it, and somewhere to ask the small questions as they come up.

What we're working towards

That's not a rare photo. It's the plan.

Not just a dog who behaves — a dog who gets to be a dog again. Off the lead on the streets you used to avoid. Recall that holds with a squirrel, a jogger, another dog crossing the path.

None of that happens by hoping. It happens by teaching your dog to cope with the world properly, once — which is why the reactivity work comes first.

Off lead isn't a party trick. It's what happens when a dog finally understands the world isn't something to survive.

Calmer Walks, Starting This Week

Practical steps for the week ahead — where to walk, how to read your dog before a reaction builds, and what to actually do in the moment it does. Enough to make things easier now, while you decide about the rest.
